Historic England Pub Surveyors

Over the years pubs have been closing down in alarmingly large numbers. Many pubs have been sold and have been converted for various other uses. Sadly, many are left unrecognisable from the alterations, with and original features and characteristics of the building have been lost. In the worst cases pubs are completely demolished to make way for housing developments or commercial businesses such as supermarkets or just left to fall into disrepair.

Historic England have now started a series of projects to try to understand why the great British local has fallen out of favour with the general public and whether there is anything that can be done to halt the closures.

For more information and to read how organisations such as CAMRA are trying to curb the closures please read this article on the Historic England website.
